Best Outdoor Adventure Gifts for Kids

I hope these outdoor adventure gifts spark some additional ideas for your kiddos. We have most of these items from amazon. And the two items we don’t have, we plan on getting them for the kids for Christmas this year. 😉

Binoculars

We have several pairs of binoculars. We have some that came with a kids outdoor adventure set. They did not work near as well as these. Our kids each have a pair and love them. They can see very far away and clearly. Our 5 year old can work them well and they fit his face too.

Bug catching nets

These nets are heavily used in our house. We’ve had them for about 2 years. They have been used to catch minnows and crawdads. As well as to catch bees, butterflies as well as crickets. We did break a few trying to catch crawdads in a creek. The kids were furiously going after a few and weren’t careful with their nets.

Walkie talkies

We have had several walkie talkies over the years. Fun ones that have characters on them and others that worked much better. These have a flashlight on them which is always useful and fun for kids.

Rubber boots

Our kids always seem to find the mud puddle. And then proceed to play in it. Rubber boots are perfect for this! Our kids like to play with their trucks in the mud. There are times that their shoes “accidentally” slip into the mud puddle. Rubber boots are also good for fishing on shore. For some reason our kids think the closer they get to the water the more fish they catch. Which leads to wet shoes. And let’s not forget, playing in the rain. I’m sure that’s the main reason for rubber boots. 😉

Hammock

Lazy camp days in a hammock is what it’s all about. Who doesn’t love a hammock?! This one is highly rated on Amazon. The large one holds up to 500 pounds and it says 2 people, but you can get 3 kids in there. We love orange, but there are a ton of other colors.

Fun shirt

This shirt might not appeal to everyone but what little kid doesn’t ask a gazillion questions about bugs?! My boys have shirts that they bring on camping trips that have something to do with camping. They call them their camping shirts. My little guy had a shirt that had a fish on it that he had to wear while fishing. Fun shirts make the experience a little more fun.

Bug Catcher

The kids love to catch bugs! We’ve had our fair share of critters living in our big catcher. We had crickets for a while. Well, if you’ve had crickets in your house you know what it sounds like at night…while you are trying to sleep. One kid got so tired of waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of crickets. Needless to say, those guys didn’t last long in the catcher. 😉

Forest animals

Our kids LOVE animals. If you ask any of them what they want to be when they grow up, it will have something to do with saving animals. We love trying to find animals on our family adventures. So this gift is a no-brainer for us. Maybe you have a kiddo in your life that loves animals as much as we do. This is a perfect gift. Right now it’s on sale too!

Sun hat

The sun here in Colorado is no joke. I thought the Florida sun was bad, nope! Florida has nothing on the power of the Colorado sun. So we have to wear hats often. My boys love their sun hats. It keeps their little ears from frying. We love orange but this hat comes in so many other colors.

Beach toys

We call them sand toys, only because we don’t have typical “beaches” here. The boys will spend hours digging for fossils at camp…or in the backyard. Or making dirt tracks for their trucks.

Adventure vest

Our oldest got this when she was maybe 7ish. We’ve had it for many years. Now the boys wear it. It’s very durable and has so many pockets to put adventure equipment in. 😉 This vest has been well worn and is still looking great.

Rock painting kit

We love to find painted rocks on our adventures. We also love to paint and hide rocks for other adventure seekers. This kit is perfect for that. The paints are shiny and not dull. The rocks are the “perfect rocks” for painting as well. And there is a glow-in-the-dark kit too!
