Luxury Family RV Resorts in Colorado

What makes a family RV resort a luxury family RV resort? When you hear “luxury“, do you think “fancy”? When you hear the words “family RV camping”, do you think “fancy”? No? Neither do I.

So how does a family RV resort become luxurious? Well, that really starts with changing your thinking. Luxury RV resorts don’t have marble countertops and crystal chandeliers in the RV camp spots. BUT… they might have hot tubs and private decks in the camp spots! Or they might have 4 hot tubs, 2 pools, a kiddie area, miniature golf and/or golf cart rentals at the RV resort! That’s fancy camping, or Glamping!

In order for a luxury family RV resort to make it to my list they need to have some of the following:

  • Pool/hot tub
  • Golf cart rentals or the ability to bring your own
  • Full activities in the summer and/or adventure packages
  • Bicycle rentals
  • Jumping pillow/climbing wall/bounce house/playground (something awesome for kids)
  • Miniature golf
  • Cafe/snack bar
  • Ice cream/pizza parlor
  • Full restaurant
  • Large RV parking 40ft+
  • A variety of lodgings… RV spots, Cabins, Wagons and/or Glamping Tents

Luxury Family RV Resorts in Colorado

Or you can build a cute cabin on that lot.

Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain

Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain is the Country Club of RV Resorts, but without the membership fee. This place is huge. I believe it was previously known as River Run RV Resort. Then Sun Outdoors got a hold of it and added to it.

Garden of the Gods RV Resort

I added this one because it is on like 5 different sites as being a luxury RV resort. We have stayed here and I don’t consider this to be a “fancy” or “luxurious” RV resort.

Is it one of the nicest places to stay in Colorado Springs, yes it is! I would call this one 2nd place. First place going to Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

But since I added this RV resort, let’s see how it compartes to the list above and everyone else.

Amenities:

  • 2 heated pools
  • Arcade and game room
  • General store
