We go on off-road trails about twice a month. And if we aren’t on an off-road trail, we are on a hiking trail. While the kids are in the Jeep, we like them to be engaged with us instead of on their phone or watching a movie. That is how I came up with the forest tree scavenger hunt.

The forest tree scavenger hunt came about as I was trying to figure out how to engage the kids with nature while in the Jeep. And to stop the whining of “are we done yet?”

Also when we are on a hike that they are not too thrilled with, which doesn’t happen often, they start to whine “are we done yet?”

I started noticing all the different shapes of the trees. Sometimes we come upon a tree that looks like it’s trying to get away from it’s neighboring tree. Which is always funny to tell stories about. There are times that we notice a tree that has it’s butt sticking out or it’s belly sticking out.

These are just all different ways the trees have grown, but they are funny to see. And when you are in the forest for hours, it’s nice to find trees that don’t all look the same.

So if you are like us and need to spice up a jeep trail or a hiking trail, please sign up for the free Forest Tree Scavenger Hunt.
