Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Scavenger Hunt

Today I want to share with you a scavenger hunt that I made for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We love going to the zoo. So I thought that a Cheyenne Mountain Scavenger Hunt would be the perfect addition to our fun day!

If you are visiting the Colorado Springs area and are planning to visit some local attractions, I highly recommend Garden of the Gods. I also have a scavenger hunt for there as well.

What kind of animals are on the scavenger hunt?

There are 40 animals on the scavenger hunt. You’ll find animals in each area of the zoo. Before you go you can print out a map at home or take a picture of the map once you get there. They do not hand out maps

Are all these animals at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo?

YES! Well, at the time of this writing, yes, all the animals on the scavenger hunt are at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

When is the best time to go to the zoo to see the animals?

We went to the zoo many times, mainly in the morning. And we have stayed until about mid afternoon. The only animal we haven’t seen yet is the vultures.

I don’t think there is a best time to see the animals. They have always been out when we went.

Does the zoo cost money and do I need a time entry ticket?

Yes. Which was a bit of a wake up call for us. We lived in St Louis for many years. That zoo is free. So coming here and having to pay to get in was strange to us. But apparently it’s normal. 😉

I highly recommend looking at the zoo’s website for pricing. It changes with the time, day of the week and season. So for instance, if you get there at 9am on a Saturday in the summer, it’s $35 a person. But if you go to the zoo at 2pm in the winter, it’s $15 a person. So it varies a lot!

Yes, you also need a time entry ticket as well. Please visit the zoo’s website for more information.

Wrap up

I hope that this scavenger hunt will add more excitement to your next visit to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Out of all the zoos you have been to, which one is your favorite? My oldest would say St Louis Zoo. Her next favorite, is the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
