Cabin Canyon Trail
We LOVE Garden of the Gods. It’s one of the many reasons we moved to Colorado. There is so much to see and explore at this park. It is VERY busy on the weekends, summer break and holidays. It’s a great touristy place to visit.
The trail that we explored today was Cabin Canyon Trail. And we actually had plans to explore this trail and hike Siamese Twins trail. But we didn’t have time to explore Siamese Twins trail because we spent so much time on Cabin Canyon Trail. It was that awesome.
When we go to Garden of the Gods we usually hike a trail then go climb some rocks. There are a few rock formation that we know we are allowed to climb on and the kids LOVE them! So needless to say that climbing rocks brings them joy.
The trail
We parked in the parking lot that the Siamese Twins trail starts. We didn’t really follow the map. Alltrails.com has you starting on the Siamese Twins trail then taking a left onto Cabin Canyon. We didn’t go that way. The walked toward the stop sign like we were going to leave the parking lot. The Cabin Canyon Trail is on the right. We started there.
We didn’t walk very far before we saw rocks to climb on. We were actually looking for places to hide our treasure boxes. (We like to go geocaching but we like to hide our own treasure and find them as well. More on that in another post) As I was looking to the right I noticed that there was lots of rocks that we could get to and there wasn’t a sign that said we couldn’t climb. So off the trail we went to explore.
We explored for about 15 minutes. The kids were climbing to places that the dog couldn’t reach so I suggested that we come back when we didn’t have the dog and we could explore further.
Back on the trail, we hiked further. We came across more rocks that we explored. Then after awhile, we got back on the trail again. This happened at least 6 times on this one trail. We even found a painted rock on the trail
New favorite trail
When the hike was all done, we hiked over a mile and the trail is only .7 miles long. We had so much fun. I told the kids that we’ll bring dad next time and leave the dog at home so we can explore move of this trail. The kids said that this is their new favorite trail. We can’t wait to go back so we can explore some more, put a painted rock on the trail and hide some treasure boxes.
